Painter · arcachon, France
Originally from the Arcachon Basin, I am passionate about the animal world, its colors, and the emotions it conveys.
Through my paintings, I like to give animals a new dimension, playing with our gaze, contrasting colors, and letting my imagination run free.
Inspired by pop art, my primary goal is to create vibrant, expressive, and unique works that leave a lasting impression.

HERVE
Painter — Animal Emotion in Color
Originally from the Arcachon Basin, I have been drawing and creating since childhood. I have always had this need to imagine, to sketch, to give form to my ideas. Creation has always been a part of my life, in various forms, with this constant desire to explore, experiment, and bring my imagination to life.
Today, I am developing a pictorial universe inspired by pop art, where the animal world occupies a central place. Animals fascinate me with their presence, their character, and above all, the intensity of their gaze. It is in these gazes that I find much of my inspiration: an expression, an attitude, a strength that makes me want to go beyond simple representation to seek something more personal.
Before starting a canvas, the image takes shape in my mind for a long time. I let it mature, evolve, until it becomes precise enough to take form in a first sketch on the canvas. Then comes the moment to paint, where I give more space to instinct. Even if the initial idea is there, I don't try to control everything. The painting evolves with each stroke, each texture, and each color. The painting takes shape gradually, sometimes differently than I had imagined.
Color is at the heart of my work. I love strong contrasts, bold combinations, and vibrant compositions. I seek to give animals another dimension, to move them beyond their traditional representation and offer them a unique, expressive, and contemporary presence. My works play with colors and shapes, while maintaining a particular focus on the gaze, which remains for me the point of connection between the painting and the viewer.
I work primarily with acrylics on canvas and I like to use a variety of techniques: brushes, palette knives, splatters, drips, oil pastels, and markers are combined according to the needs of each piece. This diversity allows me to play with textures, contrasts, and movement, while maintaining great freedom in execution. I like the material to fully participate in the expression of the subject and for each canvas to possess its own energy.
Through my first exhibitions in cultural centers around the Arcachon Basin, I discovered how a single work could evoke different emotions and interpretations. This encounter with the public particularly marked me. The gazes of my animals seem to touch each viewer in their own way, provoking a reaction, awakening a sensitivity, or simply capturing attention. It is this capacity of painting to create a connection, without the need for words, that gives my work added meaning today.
I am now continuing my journey with the desire to share my world in new exhibition spaces and to meet ever more diverse audiences. Attached to the Arcachon Basin, I wish to continue developing a body of work that reflects who I am: free, instinctive, expressive, and deeply colorful.
I paint to give life to the images that inhabit me, to explore the possibilities of color, and to share my vision of the animal world. I like to imagine that beyond what I intended to express by creating a canvas, everyone can find their own emotion, their own perspective, and a story that belongs to them.
